Crafted Architecture, An Investigation into Handcrafted Glass Techniques
I see the glass process as a theatre or spectacle where energy and excitement are put into the making; the hot glass is gathered and quickly shaped by the craftsman. There is truly something unique about how glass work is made.
I’m bringing the traditions of glassblowing and the handmade to light and to the public through architectural craft. The energy from the making process is at the forefront of my finished work, to give life to a space.
In my process of making, I focus on the glass techniques Caneworking and Murrini, but I allow room for error and experimentation through kiln forming. I think that glass as a material has a mind of its own, and as it wants to form its own shape, glass can be a stubborn material. I use skilled techniques while at the same time letting the blobby nature of glass work its magic.

Jag ser glasprocessen som en teater eller ett spektakel där energi och upphetsning tas i bruk; det upphettade glaset samlas ihop och formas snabbt av hantverkaren. Det ligger verkligen något unikt över hur glas skapas.
Jag för fram glasblåsningstraditionen och det handgjorda i ljuset och till allmänheten genom arkitektoniskt hantverk. Energin från skapandeprocessen befinner sig i förgrunden för mitt avslutade arbete, för att ge liv till en yta.
I min skapandeprocess fokuserar jag på glasteknikerna Caneworking och Murrini men lämnar också utrymme för fel och experimentering genom skapande i brännugn. Jag anser att glas som material har en egen vilja och kan vara ett envist material då det vill bilda sin egen form. Jag använder mig av kvalificerade tekniker men låter samtidigt glasets klumpiga karaktärsdrag göra sitt jobb.
