With technology’s increasing control of our daily lives and the constant overload of information that comes with it, have we gradually become numb and detached from its meaning and impact? By exploring the value of “abstraction” as a means towards self-reflection, statistics, personal data and live news can be selected by personal choice and abstracted through light & colour, embodied in a speculative device for the home. With Abstract Art as a strong influence, the ‘device’ induces curiosity, creating space for reflection and a means for interpretation behind the ever changing patterns of Photochromic colour.

… kommunikation och idéer kommer ur tomhet. Mentala aktiviteter som att “fundera” och “forma idéer” uppstår inte ur en medveten process av “tänkande” som börjar från noll; snarare tror jag att de härrör från vår omedvetna impuls för att “nyfiket fråga”. *
Med teknikens ständigt ökande kontroll över våra dagliga liv och den överbelastning av information som medföljer, har vi inte gradvis blivit distanserade från dess mening och inverkan? Genom att utforska “abstraktion” som ett medel för reflektion kan statistik, personuppgifter och nyheter väljas utifrån personligt val och abstraheras tack vare ljus och färg, i detta spekulativa objekt för hemmet. Med abstrakt konst som inspiration inbjuder “enheten” till nyfikenhet, skapar utrymme för reflektion och fri tolkning tack vare de ständigt föränderliga mönstren i fotokromisk färg.
